🤎 Our Story: A Legacy Sewn With Care
Written by Kelly, Vera’s daughter

For as long as I can remember, my mom, Vera, sat behind her sewing machine.
For 34 years, that was her place. Fabric spread across the table. Chalk marks on her hands. Pins carefully placed, then moved, then placed again. She had an eye for fit most people don’t, and a patience that came from caring deeply about the women who would wear her work.
She spent her career in fashion and design, creating clothing meant to make women feel confident and comfortable. But long before Vera’s Undies existed, she became one of those women herself.
When bladder leaks entered her life, everything changed.
She tried what everyone tries. Pads. Liners. Products that promised protection but delivered discomfort, irritation, bulk, and quiet embarrassment. She hated how they felt. She hated how they made her plan her days around bathrooms. And she hated how something so common made women feel so alone.
One evening, she looked at me and said,
“There has to be something better than this.”
That’s where Vera’s Undies truly began.
From a Personal Problem to a Purpose

In June 2022, my mom went back to what she knew best: her sewing machine.
Not to start a business. Not to build a brand.
But to solve a problem for herself, and for women like her.
She began experimenting with layers. Testing fabrics. Stitching, un-stitching, and stitching again. She wasn’t trying to make “medical underwear.” She wanted something soft, feminine, discreet, and genuinely protective.
By August 2022, she had her first working prototype, completely hand-stitched in her small studio.

Two months later, she shared it with a few women in her community. Friends. Neighbors. Women who understood the problem without needing it explained.
The feedback stopped her in her tracks.
“I feel like myself again.”
That sentence changed everything.
When One Woman’s Solution Became Thousands
In January 2023, Vera quietly launched her first official design:
Vera’s Signature Leakproof Underwear.

Inside was what would become her trademark: the 4-layer black protection system. Designed to wick, absorb, lock in leaks, neutralize odor, and stay dry to the touch. No bulk. No noise. No reminders.
Word spread faster than either of us expected.
By the end of 2023, more than 20,000 women in the US were wearing Vera’s underwear every day. Women in their 50s, 60s, and beyond. Women after surgery. After childbirth. Through menopause. Women who had quietly adapted their lives, until they didn’t have to anymore.
What my mum created wasn’t just underwear.
It was relief. Dignity. Confidence.
And something even bigger…
A community of women who finally felt seen.
Carrying Vera’s Work Forward

Today, I’m honored to carry this legacy forward.
After selling out during Black Friday, I knew one thing for sure, this work couldn’t stop there. So I brought Vera back into the studio one more time.
Together, we refined what already worked:
-
Improved the stitching for better durability
-
Enhanced the FluidCore design for even stronger leak protection
-
Preserved everything women already loved about the fit and feel

This holiday season, we’ve done a small, final restock, carefully made, thoughtfully improved, and still rooted in the same care my mum has poured into every stitch from the beginning.
Vera’s hands may not be at the machine every day anymore.
But her standards, her compassion, and her belief in women absolutely are.
Thank you for being part of this story.
We’re so glad you’re here.
